Wildlife Biologist

Duties of the position include but are not limited to the following:
Plans and executes wildlife surveys to determine population trends, patterns in reproductive success, timing of nesting events, and other demographic parameters of a suite of indicator species. Uses standard techniques to collect, identify, preserve and catalog specimens. Refines databases for biological data and keeps databases current. Enters and accesses data in geographic information systems (GIS), analyzes data using tools such as statistical and GIS systems software. Researches and reviews natural resource state and federal laws, regulations, and international treaties and agreements, such as the Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Marine Mammal Protection Act in order to perform duties. Only experience and education obtained by 11/24/2020 will be considered. Education Requirement for the 0486 Occupational Series:
Degree:
biological science that included:
At least 9 semester hours in such wildlife subjects as mammalogy, ornithology, animal ecology, wildlife management, or research courses in the field of wildlife biology; and At least 12 semester hours in zoology in such subjects as general zoology, invertebrate zoology, vertebrate zoology, comparative anatomy, physiology, genetics, ecology, cellular biology, parasitology, entomology, or research courses in such subjects (Excess courses in wildlife biology may be used to meet the zoology requirements where appropriate.); and At least 9 semester hours in botany or the related plant sciences. OR Combination of education and
Experience:
equivalent to a major in biological science (i.e., at least 30 semester hours), with at least 9 semester hours in wildlife subjects, 12 semester hours in zoology, and 9 semester hours in botany or related plant science, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Minimum Qualifications for the 7 grade level:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience may include:
Assisting in the planning of wildlife surveys to determine population trends, patterns in reproductive success, timing of nesting events, and other demographic parameters of a suite of indicator species; Researching and reviewing natural resource state and federal laws, regulations, and international treaties and agreements, such as the Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Marine Mammal Protection Act. OR Successful completion of 1 full year (18 semester hours) of graduate education in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR A combination of specialized experience and graduate education as described above that, when combined, equals 100% of the total requirement. OR Successful completion of a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in a field of study that demonstrates the competencies required by this position with either (1) a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 based on a 4.0 scale; (2) a 3.5 GPA based on a 4.0 scale for all required courses completed in a qualifying major field of study at either the time of application or during the last two years of your undergraduate curriculum; (3) class standing of upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or a major subdivision of the college; or, (4) membership in a National Scholastic Honor Society certified by the Association of College Honor Societies, excluding freshman honor societies. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
