Solar Oysters (SO) LLC islooking for a candidate to assist in the further development of the SolarOyster Production System (SOPS). Theposition requires working closely with Hoopers Island Oyster Company (HIOC),which is partnering with SO to bring this technology to market. The successful candidate will work on theSOPS prototype on Fishing Bay in coordination with HIOC personnel. An office isavailable in Cambridge, MD. This position will also be responsible forcollecting, recording, reporting, and assessing SOPS' performance and oystergrowth data. This position would also assist with public outreach and educationregarding the SOPS system. This is currently a part-time, contractual, positionwith growth potential. Estimated Pay Range:
$25/hr. - $30/hr. Estimated Hours:
20 - 30/week.RequirementsGraduation from a standard high school or GED, collegeeducation preferred A valid driver's license Ability to lift 50 to 75 lbs. repetitively Computer literacy - experience with spreadsheets, wordprocessing, and database management Ability to clearly communicate, verbally and inwriting, and to understand and follow directions Ability to work in a marine environment, on docks,piers, and boats Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with maintenance ofequipment, including batteries, small electrical motors, pumps, waterdelivery systems, etc. Experience with shellfish aquaculture and biofoulingprevention techniques Boating license or ability to get one Experience with biological data collection Job DetailsThis is a unique opportunity to joina dynamic team on a cutting-edge project that will use solar power to createsustainable oyster farming.
